Adjective Clause

ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

 

It is a clause which functions as an adjective. That explains the noun.

(adalah klausa yang berfungsi seperti kata sifat, yaitu menjelaskan kata benda)

 

Or to give further information about a person / a thing.

(memberikan informasi tambahan tentang orang / benda)

 

e.g. :

1.	The man who repaired my bike yesterday is my neighbour.
	(Pria yang memperbaiki motor saya kemarin adalah tetangga saya)
	who repaired my bike yesterday = adjective clause, menjelaskan the man.
2.	Mr. Boyke who teaches in SMA TERVAL teaches theEnglish lesson.
	(Mr. Boyke yang mengajar di SMA TERVAL mengajar bahasa inggris)
	who teaches in SMA TERVAL= adjective clause, menjelaskan Mr.Boyke.
3.	I greeted the man whom I met at the graduation party last night.
	(Saya menyalami priayang saya temui di pesta perpisahan malam lalu)
	whom I met at the graduation party last night= adjective clause, menerangkan the man
4.	My friend whom I thanked helped me do my Math assignment.
	(Teman saya yang saya ucapkan terima kasih membantu saya mengerjakan tugas matematika)
	whom I thanked = adjective clause, menerangkan my friend.
5.	RX TING which can reach 200 kms /h is the fastest motorcycle from YAMAHI.
	(RX KING yang dapat mencapai 200 km /jam merupakan motor tercepat dari YAMAHI)
	which can reach 200 kms /h= adjective clause, menjelaskan RX KING
6.	DOPOD U1000 which I bought last year has been broken.
	(DOPOD U1000 yang saya beli tahun lalu sudah rusak)
	which I bought last year= adjective clause.
7.	Dany whose girlfriend has gone to Germanyis very sad.
	(Dany yang kekasihnya telah pergi ke Jerman sangat sedih)
	whose girlfriend has gone to Germany= adjective clause, menjelaskan Dany.
8.	The girl whose bag was stolen last night works for PT. Firelli.
	(Gadis yang tasnya dicuri malam lalu bekerja di PT. Firelli)
	whose bag was stolen last night= adjective clause.
9.	I don't know the address where she lives.
	(Saya tidak tau alamat dimana dia tinggal)
	where she lives= adjective clause, menerangkan the address.

 

 

Below is the simple pattern to construct Adjective Clause:

 

Person (subject)	+	who	+	verb / auxiliary / to be.
Person (object)	+	whom	+	subject pronoun.
Thing	+	which	+	......................
Person/ Thing	+	whose	+	noun  (menyatakan milik).
Location	+	where	+	………………
